S1 Ep3: Top Places + Tips From Abroad

For the Spring semester of 2019, my dear friend Janine and I studied at the Anglo American University in Prague, Czech Republic. This episode is one close to my heart, that encompasses our almost-missing-the-bus story, the time Janine got lost in a Czech IKEA, our favorite memories, places, and every good thing in between.

I knew when I started planning this season, I wanted to incorporate my abroad experience. Not only was it a topic I got many questions on, but also such a pivotal point in my life where I gained my confidence. This experience changed my mentality, the way I viewed the world, and gave me so many incredible trips that I just HAD to relive and reminisce with my best friend Janine. In this episode, we give you all the details from our top trips in Europe, the cheapest places, our crazy experiences (aka pulling a bus over on our way back to prague), to our favorite wine bar in Prague. Janine’s ranked list of McDonald’s in Europe even makes an appearance! So we have lots of laughs, travel tips, stories and of course, the mentalities we brought back to America.

Janine’s Famously Ranked McDonalds (& her explanations:)

        1.      Prague—a staple in our diet. Delicious. Nutritious. Great salads too.
        2.      Belgrade—honestly delish. Woman couldn’t understand my order fully but it came out great. Mozzarella sticks (delish), small fry and Big Mac (extra good) 9/10

        3.      London—cheeseburger and McFlurry

        4.      Krakow—delicious salad, good chicken, nothing bad nothing amazing

        5.      Amsterdam—probably the best McFlurry I’ve ever had, cheeseburger was good, was sober and still enjoyed greatly.

        6.      Vienna—got every night. Chicken nugs were next level, cheese balls were good in the moment but caused instant regret.

        7.      Rome—RAN to McDonald’s. Got a burger and a McFlurry, they didn’t have Oreo so I got snickers.

        8.      Munich—didn’t get my order right but still tasty. Not the best McFlurry but the burger was top notch. Ate the fries the next day. They did forget ketchup.

        9.      Budapest—only got 2 cookies but they were so good I ate them both before we got home

        10.     Oslo—expensive as frick. I got 3 cinnamon donuts and ate one per night, very good. They also had sweet potato fries but I didn’t get to try :(

Overall, when Janine asked, “What’s the one thing you take away from Prague?” I had to say it was confidence. The fact that I was able to travel solo at times, learn a little bit of another language, push myself outside my comfort zone and learn to appreciate every second was incredible.

We truly took away the mentality to be grateful for every single moment. Wherever you may be. It’s also the people that you go with and the memories you make that are the game changers.

We so enjoyed reminiscing this week on our best adventure yet and appreciate every single one of you and hope you enjoyed our obnoxious laughs!

xx,

Shelby
